Meet the McKessons & the Bailies...
Penny & Doug McKesson
Both Penny and Doug McKesson, owners of Goodtime Touring Company, have developed a passion for Sonoma, its rich history, the great wines and local bounty that this unique area has to offer.
Established in 2001, Goodtime Touring Company grew from the retail bike shop owned and operated by Doug & Penny from 1975-2000. They began renting bikes to local hotels in the area, then offering guided tours......the rest is history!
Doug is a former Mayor of Sonoma, and due to his familiarity and popularity within the community has developed wide-ranging relationships with winemakers, cheese makers, and a broad cross-section of businesses and individuals.
Both Doug and Penny have strong ties to the community, and have each been tireless volunteers in many areas over the last 35 years in the town they call home. They are the proud parents of two adult children and take great delight in their five grandchildren!
Goodtime Touring Company tours are designed to be as individual as you are, and to make you feel at home in this special place where you are fee to create memories and adventures of your own.
In 2014, Doug & Penny started working with long time locals Hunt & Yuni Bailie (owner/operators of Sonoma Segway). After a glass or two of wine and an intense game of rock/paper/scissors, the McKesson’s and the Bailie’s decide to combine forces. Hunt and Yuni, taking what they know and love about Sonoma, and combining it with the top quality bike & van tours provided by the McKessons, have started the Sonoma Adventures, LLC tour company.
Yuni & Hunt Bailie
Yuni and Hunt Bailie are both long time locals with a background in the hospitality industry and a passion for Sonoma, its community and its rich history. Hunt, having called Sonoma home since birth, and Yuni since the early 90’s, now have 3 kids. Having firmly rooted themselves here, they plan on calling Sonoma home for as long as they can imagine.
Having spent many years in the hospitality industries, they decided to branch out and open up Sonoma Segway in 2005. With the beautiful weather, scenic roads, rich history and amazing wineries, Sonoma provides the ideal place for touring on a segway or bike.
Sonoma Valley: History, Wine & Beauty
Wine Country doesn't get more real than Sonoma Valley, whose rich soils mark the birthplace of California's wine industry. It's also the closest wine region to San Francisco, just 45 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Cradled between the Mayacamas and the Sonoma Mountain ranges, Sonoma Valley encompasses a rolling patchwork of vineyards, quaint farms and 13,000 acres of scenic parkland.
In the center of town, the eight-acre Sonoma Plaza is a National Historic Landmark, strewn with sprawling shade trees and bordered by carefully preserved adobe buildings. Up the road in Glen Ellen, author and bohemian adventurer Jack London lived and wrote at his pristine Beauty Ranch, now an 800-acre state historic park.
